Prior to co-founding Learner, Mike Brown built and scaled three profitable digital businesses across diverse industries, including fintech, publishing, media, and banking. He developed his passion for education early in his career as a math instructor at Penn State University, later expanding into executive education where he launched and led a division that trained over 100,000 students annually.
Most recently, Mike served as Managing Director at Epic Research, where he launched two fintech content businesses, generating 200,000 client leads per year and over $3 billion in loan volume for clients. He also negotiated strategic partnerships, led multi-agency marketing teams, and scaled SEO and email programs to hundreds of thousands of users.
Previously, as Head of the Executive Education Division at Progressive Business Publications, Mike built the unit from the ground up—driving $10 million in annual revenue at high margins, producing 400+ live events per year, and developing proprietary certificate programs across industries like healthcare, higher education, and government. His earlier roles include executive leadership at LifeMinders.com, where he led the most profitable division through IPO and secondary offering, and business development leadership roles at First USA and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Mike holds dual Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Operations Research from Penn State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Rutgers University.
Outside of work, Mike is passionate about inspiring students and rethinking how educational outcomes are achieved through personalized support and scalable digital solutions.
